At this stated meeting the Council adopted its entire general-orders calendar 50-0 , a slate of Brooklyn and Queens rezonings and affordable-housing dispositions (41 Richards Street, 341 10th Street, 80-01 Broadway) that had cleared the April 17 land-use committees. The drama was one item: N 240179 ZRY (LU 57 / Res 392), a casino-gaming-related zoning text amendment. Members peeled off to vote no or 'aye-except-57' across the political map , Yeger, Marte, Paladino, Marmorato, Krishnan and Hanif opposed, while Hudson, Joseph and Salaam backed it with stated reservations about the review process

- potential sites limited to high density commercial and manufacturing areas
Opposition & support
Yeger objects that the amendment leaves casino approval to the local district council member, so members whose districts are a block away would have zero say.
Yeger argues a yes vote removes a tool of review the council uses for land use matters and is a blanket statement of approval for the concept of casinos in neighborhoods.
