A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to protections for domestic workers under the human rights law
Council members heard a measure extending employment anti-discrimination protections to domestic workers, barring bias on protected categories like gender and race and shielding victims of domestic violence, sex offenses, and stalking. The bill would also require employers to grant reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth, and related needs such as lactation upon request.
